Noemi and Ken seem to have immediately adjusted to the time difference, Me? Up at 3am this morning. I think my mind was full of an evening of stories from people who are from all parts of the world and lived in many different places. There were so many accents in the room (Irish, Australian, Hungarian, Mid-West and Bellinghamer). It is fascinating to hear why they have chosen this life. Robin’s apartment is big (with a tiny kitchen that she was able to produce an incredible dinner in) and yes, Sondra there is an elevator.
Breakfast was at 6:30am and Mr. Sun arrived at 7:30. Noemi needed to be there a bit earlier today to make sure everything checked out. The talk in the auditorium ended with 500 students on their feet. There were 2 small Q & A groups with lunch in between. The kids had amazing questions that Noemi answered with grace and ease. I hope our photos reflect the incredible day. Just look at their faces. At the end of the day however, 2 boys, one by one, had to sit and have one on one with Noemi. They had been caught by the principal falling asleep during her talk and came to apologize for being disrespectful They looked scared to death. Again, she handled it with grace and left them with a lesson.
TAS is incredible. It is K-12, all under one roof (about 2,300 students). The students are 96% Asian and parents include the owner of our hotel and the owner of Greco (strollers)…need I say more? It is a beautiful school with small classes and each student has a laptop. Ken is VERY impressed.
After a full day at school, we went back to the hotel for a short rest. We went back to Robin’s for a family dinner.
What an amazing experience for you. The pictures are great and I enjoy getting up to see what you have done for the day.....

ReplyDeleteThe school sounds impressive. Maybe Ken can come out of retirement. (kidding, Ken, really) I'm not surprised they loved hearing Noemi. Good for the principal for insisting on respect for a guest. Being privileged doesn't need to mean being spoiled. Seems tough for Noemi to be the one to dole out the consequences, but it sounds like she handled it well.

What wonderful pictures! The looks on those faces of the children were priceless. Great shots of Noemi's warmth and intensity as she speaks to them. All is quiet on the home front. Lots of rain and a few breaks to get out in the garden. Love, Jan
